Queensland is home to some of our most unique and threatened ocean wildlife. Dolphins, dugongs, turtles, sharks and sawfish all call these tropical waters home. Right now, our wildlife are being killed in gillnets – invisible walls of death hanging in the water.
These animals get snagged in fishing nets and die a horrible death.
We can have sustainable fisheries that don’t kill dolphins and turtles, if we act today.
The Queensland Government has committed to reforming all commercial fishing, and is proposing a whole series of foundational changes to fishing in state waters.
The Government needs to hear that we support these changes. Add your name and tell our leaders you want reforms written into the law for the benefit of the oceans, the community and the fishing industry.
