Make Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands Marine Parks a reality

The oceans surrounding Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands are teeming with a unique mix of marine life, and we have a rare opportunity to provide them with protection!

Thanks to a wave of support, the Australian government has now released the ‘proclamation proposal’ for the Christmas Island and Cocos (Keeling) Islands Marine Parks, and wants your feedback.

Co-designed with local island communities, they include crucial sanctuaries covering around 739,000 square kilometres – that’s around twice the size of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park!

This next phase of consultation is the final step before the Government makes these world-class marine parks a reality.

By adding your name to our submission in support of these new detailed plans, you will be contributing to global marine conservation efforts that are desperately needed, and helping protect livelihoods and opportunities for future generations of islanders.
