Would you like some marine conservation with your Grill’d burger?

by AMCS Team October 1, 2021

AMCS is thrilled to the gills that Grill’d is featuring us this month during their Local Matters National takeover!

The national restaurant chain has picked us as one of three sustainability causes they’re supporting in October, which means we’ll receive an important donation from Grill’d to help our work in advocating for our oceans.

To increase our chances of a bigger slice of the generous $70,000 donation on offer from Grill’d, we are encouraging all our supporters who grab a bite to eat there to vote for us.

  • You can do this by placing the token you are handed with your meal into the Australian Marine Conservation Society jar available in all Grill’d’s restaurants.
  • If you ordered online, you’ll be sent a virtual token in an email – just follow the instructions to send that vote our way.

At the end of October, Grill’d will count all the votes countrywide (like a mini election with no losers) to decide how the $70,000 will be shared.

Why AMCS?

Our oceans are critical to life on Earth, in Australia and around the globe, our oceans are in deep trouble. Loss of habitat, pollution, overfishing, unsustainable development and the very real and immediate impacts of climate change are devastating marine biodiversity, communities and economies.

With this incredible donation, AMCS intends to continue the work we have conducted for the past 55 years, using scientific research, policy advocacy, community engagement and education to protect Australia’s oceans, marine wildlife and our blue planet.

Our Current Campaigns:

  • Climate Change
  • Fight For Our Reef
  • Fisheries
  • Marine Parks
  • Ocean Plastic Pollution
  • Save Our Sharks
  • Threatened Species
  • Whaling

Our CEO Darren Kindleysides said AMCS was honoured and delighted to have been picked by Grill’d in the Local Matters initiative.

“Our oceans are facing more threats today than ever before. We need all hands on deck to tackle loss of habitat, pollution, overfishing, invasive species and the very real and immediate impacts of global warming,” he said.

“Grill’d is a great example of how business leaders can help us tackle some of the biggest wildlife and habitat protection challenges by pursuing truly sustainable and ethical business models and we are thrilled to the gills that Grill’d invited us to participate in the Local Matters initiative.”

Be sure to visit Grill’d this month to treat your tastebuds and use your vote wisely for our oceans.
