Plastics Treaty Negotiations
AMCS has proudly been a voice for our oceans at Global Plastic Treaty negotiations working towards an international agreement to end plastic pollution.
Thank you to our ocean loving community! It’s because of you that AMCS Plastics Campaign Manager and a group of Dhimurru Rangers were present at the November 2024 negotiations in Busan, South Korea, calling for global laws to prevent plastic pollution – including from fishing gear.
Yolngu Traditional Owner and Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation Chair, Mayatili Marika said: “Our ecosystem is fragile and so precious but more and more we are seeing not just in our Country, but all over the planet that plastics are choking the very lifeforce out of us all.”
Pro-plastic nations and industries continue to stall essential progress. Treaty negotiations will continue in 2025.
