Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a dangerous distraction.
It’s a fossil fuel industry pipe dream, designed to greenwash their efforts to keep polluting.
The process involves burying carbon dioxide pollution by pumping it through wells into the ground, including below the ocean floor.
They call it carbon capture and storage or CCS – we call it carbon pollution dumping.
Fossil fuel companies rely on the broken promise of CCS to continue exploring for, extracting and burning fossil fuels which we know worsens the climate crisis.
CCS is a proven failure and an immense cost to the environment and taxpayers, requiring ongoing seismic blasting
Right now, Woodside and its joint venture partners want to drill 50 new gas wells and up to 7 drill sites to dump carbon pollution beneath the ocean floor near Scott Reef.
