NT Community Campaigner
Thor is a filmmaker, TV presenter, and author based in Darwin, who loves chasing barra in the mangroves.
Originally from Denmark, Thor spent the school holidays sailing and later worked as a kayak guide in Venezuela. Wanting to share the magic of the ocean with a wider audience he jumped into film production.
Thor is best known for directing the award-winning documentary SAILAU, which follows the first circumnavigation of New Guinea in a traditional sailing canoe. During this 13 month odyssey, Thor witnessed first-hand the devastating impact of gillnets and unregulated commercial fishing on marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of coastal communities.
Since moving to the Northern Territory, Thor has worked as community campaigner on successful environmental campaigns that have led to key government commitments, including no new dams on rivers and the phase-out of commercial barramundi gillnetting.
