Simon Miller

Great Barrier Reef Fisheries Campaign Manager

While growing up in Queensland, Simon fell in love with the ocean on his first trip out to Heron Island. Mesmerised by the colours of the reef and wildlife in the rainforest, he always knew he wanted to work in conservation.

Simon has worked on a range of international conservation projects in Bolivia, Cambodia and Malaysia, from collecting the baseline data to inform the zoning and establishment of Cambodia’s first marine park, to spending months in the Bornean jungle mapping habitats and setting up camera traps.

Returning to Australia in 2014, Simon has been working to improve fisheries, working with Governments, fishers and Traditional Owners to ensure that fish stocks and our iconic marine life can thrive into the future.

Outside of work, he’s always looking for an excuse to go for a dive or get in the water.
