About AMCS

The Australian Marine Conservation Society is the voice for Australia's oceans. We are an independent not-for profit charity. We deal with the big issues concerning the sea, working on behalf of the community to protect marine wildlife, tackle the major threats to the marine environment and create marine sanctuaries, places in the sea where our wildlife is safe from harm. We are a committed group of professional and passionate scientists, educators and advocates who have defended Australia's oceans for 50 years.

Marine Campaigner (Sydney)

Part-time, 3 days p/wk

Our oceans need you. Make a difference as you work to secure the protection of Sydney’s marine life. As the Marine Campaigner for two leading environmental charities, you will be the catalyst for change to protect the incredible marine life of the Sydney region.

Location: Sydney

Salary: $65,000 – 70,000 pro rata, per annum, plus superannuation. 

Hours: Part time, 22.8 hours a week (3 days a week), some weekend and out of hours work required.

Contract period: One year, with possibility for extension.

Purpose of the position:

We’re looking for an energetic and experienced campaigner with a diverse skillset to build on our existing campaign to secure a multiple-use marine park for the Sydney region.

Key functions:

The Marine Campaigner will work with the Australian Marine Conservation Society and the Nature Conservation Council to raise the public profile of the campaign, build relationships with decision makers and motivate ocean loving Sydneysiders to join the campaign. You’ll develop and implement the campaign strategy, bring new partners on board, and work with our communications teams to achieve our vision to protect Sydney’s oceans.
