Octopus Arms: Celebrating 60 Years of Impact

May 20, 2025

Thank you for celebrating 60 years of ocean conservation with us at this very special edition of Octopus Arms.

On Monday 19th May, we marked the 60th anniversary of the Australian Marine Conservation Society with a powerful discussion with people who’ve shaped our organisation from the very beginning through to today.

Founders Eddie Hegerl and Di Tarte shared stories from AMCS’ early days, key victories and the challenges they faced, while past CEOs Darren Kindleysides and Kate Davey reflected on defining moments in AMCS’ evolution. We welcomed new CEO Paul Gamblin, who spoke about the future direction and vision for marine conservation.
The live Q&A was a rare opportunity for supporters to ask questions about AMCS’ history, future challenges and the stories behind our successes

Here is the recording of the webinar for those that wish to rewatch or if you were unable to attend on the night
