Help Protect Scott Reef from Woodside’s Browse fossil fuel proposal

We have a matter of days to stop Woodside’s deeply damaging Browse gas project from putting one of Australia’s most important reef systems at risk.

Public comment has unusually been reopened on Woodside’s Browse gas proposal – part of the Burrup Hub – after intense public and scientific scrutiny of its impacts on Scott Reef.

The Browse proposal is part of the highly controversial North West Shelf extension that will process  gas from major projects in north-west Australia for 40+ years.

Add your name to our formal submission to the Western Australian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

AMCS is preparing a detailed formal submission to the WA EPA, calling for the Browse proposal to be rejected to protect Scott Reef and its endangered marine life.

When you add your name, you’re strengthening our case. Numbers matter – a strong show of public opposition to this new fossil fuel proposal will amplify our science-informed case that this project poses unacceptable risks to marine life, ocean health and climate stability.

Why we must stop Browse

Scott Reef is a remote, near-pristine coral ecosystem. It’s home to endangered pygmy blue whales, endemic dusky sea snakes, green turtles nesting sites and other threatened marine species.

Woodside’s revised plan does little to reduce the risks:

There is no reduction in gas volume or emissions, and no credible plan to protect the reef from long-term harm in these new plans.

Why your name matters

The WA EPA is accepting comments until 10 June only. It’s rare for public consultation to reopen like this — it’s a sign that pressure is working.
