Marine Campaigner

Katie Walters spent 20 years managing Community Cultural Development (CCD) organisations before completing a B.Sci (1st class hons) in marine science. She has integrated these diverse practices of community engagement and marine science in a PhD candidature with a specific focus on building community capacity for marine conservation and building marine stewardship in local communities via positive communication and engagement. Her interest in creating safe space for dialogue and finding common ground resulted in a highly successful limited-series podcast featuring some of the unique and passionate people who love the Moreton Bay coast.
Ms Walters was the Communications Officer for the Society for Conservation Biology Marine Section from 2017-2020 and served on the marketing team for the International Marine Conservation Congress (IMCC) – Kuching Malaysia in 2018.
