At the same time as COVID-19 has spread around the world, our Great Barrier Reef has been hit with record breaking temperatures, leading to a mass coral bleaching event. This is the third climate change triggered mass bleaching in just five years.
This state election, candidates have an opportunity to make a big difference. They can rebuild the Queensland economy and tackle the climate crisis at the same time.
You can make a big impact today – by getting the election candidates in your area to commit to creating thousands of jobs in clean energy, not more dirty fossil fuels that will push our Reef to the brink.
Will you write to the Queensland State Election Candidates in your area, and demand they stand up for our Reef and local livelihoods by committing to clean energy jobs?
Together we can use our voice and our vote to make Queensland do our fair share on climate change, which is the biggest threat to our Reef. Together we can also secure resilience projects to clean up our Reef’s waterways and make sure its fisheries are sustainable. But with powerful vested interests fighting us, we can only win if we show that Queenslanders are demanding action.
