Exmouth Gulf is a natural wonder that’s still under threat.
We’ve stopped two major industrial proposals, but a third one remains. Help us fight a proposal to build an industrial port in the planned Exmouth Gulf Marine Park. With your help, protecting this remarkable marine environment forever is within our reach.
We’ve stopped two major industrial proposals, but a third one remains. Help us protect Exmouth Gulf and secure its future as a thriving marine sanctuary.
Exmouth Gulf is a natural wonder and a global biodiversity hotspot, home to vibrant coral, seagrass meadows, mangroves and critical nursery habitats for whales, fish, and other marine life.
After years of advocacy and community pressure, the government has committed to establishing the Exmouth Gulf Marine Park—but Gascoyne Gateway Limited’s industrial port proposal still threatens to undo this progress.
AMCS is working closely with Nyinggulu Traditional Owners, scientists, and the local community to “finish the job,” ensuring enduring protection for this remarkable ecosystem. Our approach goes beyond stopping industrialisation: we are advancing layers of protection, including National Heritage listing, and consolidating scientific and community momentum to safeguard Exmouth Gulf forever.
This work is part of a broader strategy to expand marine sanctuaries across Australia. By focusing on high-value areas, where biodiversity is most concentrated, we can deliver rapid, tangible conservation outcomes while building a strong national mandate for state and territory marine protections.
In 2026, we are raising funds to protect Exmouth Gulf, stop destructive development, and expand high-value marine sanctuaries across Australia. By donating TODAY your support will help to:
- Stop industrialisation in Exmouth Gulf and safeguard a globally significant humpback whale nursing and resting ground.
- Deliver enduring marine park protections and advance National Heritage listing
- Strengthen First Nations-led management and coastal community partnerships
- Protect critical habitats with strong ecological linkages to the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Coast.
- Expand the national network of high-value marine sanctuaries. With your support, we can secure a lasting future for Exmouth Gulf and inspire the nation to protect Australia’s most precious coastal treasure
