Oil and gas giant ConocoPhillips wants to test drill for gas deep in our oceans off Victoria and Tasmania.

This project puts our oceans at risk of a disastrous spill that would impact marine parks and endangered whale habitat.

Right now the government regulator is asking for public comment on these plans. They want to know what Australians think about it before they make a decision… but time is running out.

We need your help to launch an urgent digital ad campaign to make sure this proposal gets rejected.

This animation is based on modelling information provided by ConocoPhillips in their Environmental Plan.¹  It represents the full and combined extent of areas that modelling of different spills from multiple scenarios show could be impacted, and is not to exact scale.

 

Our Plan

This powerful animation shows how dangerous spills could spread across Australia’s southern coast. The impacted areas are home to iconic marine life like Australian fur seals, bottlenose dolphins and blue whales.

We’ve used ConocoPhillips’ own modelling of what they project ‘low to moderate’ spills from a loss of wellhead control could look like.

These “low to moderate” scenarios show widespread impacts, including the entire coast of Victoria and the beaches of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.

This test drilling project is far too risky for Australia’s oceans and marine life. We need to get the message out before it’s too late!
