Like national parks on land, marine sanctuaries are vital. They mean full protection for marine areas, and exclude commercial fishing and mining. Yet only 10% of Australia’s waters are currently fully protected from harmful activities. Australia has committed to protect 30% of our oceans by 2030. We need to make sure this happens.
