Preventing shark and ray extinctions from Australia’s north to south
Time is running out to safeguard some of the world’s most endangered sharks and rays. Donate today to protect Australia’s living library of elasmobranchs.
Australia; extinction hotspot or species lifeboat? Which would you like to be known for?
Australia is a lifeboat for world’s most endangered sharks and rays, and a living library of millions of years of evolutionary shark and ray history.
Alarmingly, Australia still permits the catch and sale of endangered animals and is home to an imminent global extinction event – we’ve got problems in our backyard.
Addressing the extinction crisis we face in Australia, has to be done from top to bottom – literally.
Northern Australia is the world’s last global stronghold for Critically Endangered sawfish, and in the very south, the Maugean Skate is only one extreme weather event away from extinction.
Time is running out to safeguard some of the world’s most endangered sharks and rays. Partner with AMCS to ensure Australia remains a lifeboat for species under threat, not an extinction hotspot.
We are seeking to raise $254,000 in 2025 to prevent shark and ray extinctions. Your donation will support campaign efforts to:
- Improve conservation outcomes for sawfish across northern Australia
- Prevent the extinction of the Maugean Skate
- Safeguard the future of (critically) endangered elasmobranchs unique to Australian waters
All donations over $2 are 100% tax-deductible. The projects featured in the Funding Prospectus are priority campaign activities and needs for which we are urgently seeking funds – current at the time of posting or going to press. As time progresses, there may be some cases in which the project you have selected may already be fully funded. In that instance, we would be delighted to discuss where the need is greatest at the given time. All of our campaigns work in symbiotic support of our mission to protect our oceans. Please be assured your gift will go to work to be the voice for Australia’s oceans, working on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife.
