The Ripple Effect

Combine cultural and scientific expertise to safeguard marine protected areas.

You can help build opportunities and alliances that prioritise First Nations leadership in designing and managing marine parks, together with Aboriginal Traditional Owners and Rangers.

Keep Top End Coasts Healthy (KTECH), led by AMCS, is a community initiative that aims to protect the Northern Territory’s unique and biodiverse coastlines, home to some of the world’s last healthy tropical waters where Indigenous connection to country is strong.
By combining cultural and scientific expertise, KTECH establishes Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and works with First Nations people to protect Country from growing pressures, such as industrialisation and dams on tropical rivers.

KTECH recently attained the first NT marine park in over 30 years at Limmen Bight and secured a commitment to the next park, with its site selection occurring in 2025. The initiative also played a key role in establishing the first partnership between the Federal Government, Territory Government, and Aboriginal Traditional Owners to pilot a unique model of Indigenous-led integrated marine parks.

After 10 impactful years, the recent change in NT government could spell disaster for the NT and its magnificent tropical waters. Now more than ever, we must keep the pressure on, and hold the Government to account, so they don’t simply walk away from the marine protection program and commitments made.

In 2025 we are seeking to raise $375,000 to ensure the protection of nature and culture in the Northern Territory. By donating TODAY you can support vital work to:

Donate to join the fight!

All donations over $2 are 100% tax-deductible. The projects featured in the Funding Prospectus are priority campaign activities and needs for which we are urgently seeking funds – current at the time of posting or going to press. As time progresses, there may be some cases in which the project you have selected may already be fully funded. In that instance, we would be delighted to discuss where the need is greatest at the given time. All of our campaigns work in symbiotic support of our mission to protect our oceans. Please be assured your gift will go to work to be the voice for Australia’s oceans, working on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife.
