60,000 years of expertise and experience.
Help fund local and international opportunities for knowledge-sharing and partnerships that support First Nations to protect and manage Sea Country.
First Nations peoples have rights, interests and deep connections across all of AMCS’ campaign work, and our operations are relevant to justice and equity for First Nations people.
Supporting First Nations Sea Country delegates to national and international knowledge-sharing opportunities and high-level meetings is vital to ensuring traditional knowledge and leadership is recognised, understood and applied more broadly.
For example, in 2023, AMCS supported a delegation of li-Anthawirriyarra Sea Rangers from the Gulf of Carpentaria to attend and be part of international indigenous knowledge sharing and advancing Indigenous led Marine Protected Areas.
More recently, our campaign to End Plastic Pollution in Australia’s oceans supported a delegation of Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation Sea Rangers to share their stories and insights from the front line of plastic pollution in Canberra and Korea, as part of Global Plastics Treaty negotiations.
We seek your support to help us build stronger partnerships and bring traditional knowledge, science, practices and experiences to the decision making table and promote the adoption of indigenous led approaches, in ocean and coastal decisions.
In 2025 we are seeking to raise $123,675 to support this vital work to amplify the 60,000 years of expertise with scientific and advocacy efforts to safeguard Sea Country. By donating TODAY you will enable:
- Knowledge-sharing, partnership initiatives and supporting First Nations voices to be heard in decision making, such as bringing the impacts of plastic pollution on Sea Country right to decision-makers in Canberra.
- AMCS to contribute resources in support of First Nations people as they manage current and emerging threats on Sea Country.
- Travel to and from remote locations, elevating First Nation voices and asks on addressing ocean threats, and supporting delegations to attend national and international meetings and decision making fora.
All donations over $2 are 100% tax-deductible. The projects featured in the Funding Prospectus are priority campaign activities and needs for which we are urgently seeking funds – current at the time of posting or going to press. As time progresses, there may be some cases in which the project you have selected may already be fully funded. In that instance, we would be delighted to discuss where the need is greatest at the given time. All of our campaigns work in symbiotic support of our mission to protect our oceans. Please be assured your gift will go to work to be the voice for Australia’s oceans, working on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife.
