We need your urgent support to send our Reef expert to the World Heritage Committee.
Please help me send Dr Lissa Schindler, our Great Barrier Reef expert, to the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee in July 2025 to be a guardian for our Reef.
For the past three years, the World Heritage Committee has been monitoring Australia’s progress in protecting the Great Barrier Reef. But next year will be the real test.
UNESCO has recommended a full review of Australia’s efforts in 2026, with the risk of an ‘In Danger’ listing if progress falls short. But first, the World Heritage Committee must agree to that review at this year’s meeting.
Australia has lobbied in the past to avoid this kind of scrutiny. That’s why we need our political and scientific Reef expert in the room this year to ensure Australia is held accountable for delivering on recommendations required to protect our Reef.
