Help defend one of the last untouched tropical coastlines on Earth!
Vulnerable to exploitation, climate change, and species loss – the tropical north may be out of sight, but with your help, we’ll keep it front of mind.
Australia’s northern waters boast some of the world’s most pristine marine ecosystems, yet they remain poorly protected and threatened by exploitation.
Climate change impacts such as rising sea levels and coral bleaching exacerbate these dangers. NT rivers also face industrial threats from water extraction, damming and crop development, while fossil fuel projects loom over Darwin Harbour.
The region’s vital ecosystems, including mangroves, coral reefs and seagrass meadows offer essential ‘blue carbon’ solutions critical for helping combat climate change. Home to six of the world’s seven sea turtle species, vulnerable dugongs, endemic snubfin dolphins and iconic sawfish, the area also supports local fisheries and tourism.
For over a decade, AMCS, First Nations communities and allies have fought to safeguard these waters – your support is crucial to ensuring what is out of sight, remains front of mind.
In 2025, we are seeking to raise $375,000 to protect one of the last relatively intact tropical coastlines on Earth, ensuring it remains vibrant for future generations. Your donation TODAY will help us:
- Continue leading the charge to expand and secure funding for well-managed marine parks, supported by Traditional Owners and backed by strong legal protections.
- Ensure that the zoning plan for Limmen Bight preserves natural and cultural values, includes an Indigenous Ranger Program, and lays the foundation for further protection across the region.
- Fight to protect vulnerable areas like Darwin Harbour from petrochemical development and the Roper River from destructive water extraction, dams, and cotton pollution.
- Continue our work to recognise the essential link between the health of our coasts and the sustainable livelihoods of local communities.
All donations over $2 are 100% tax-deductible. The projects featured in the Funding Prospectus are priority campaign activities and needs for which we are urgently seeking funds – current at the time of posting or going to press. As time progresses, there may be some cases in which the project you have selected may already be fully funded. In that instance, we would be delighted to discuss where the need is greatest at the given time. All of our campaigns work in symbiotic support of our mission to protect our oceans. Please be assured your gift will go to work to be the voice for Australia’s oceans, working on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife.
