We must unite to Turn the Tide on offshore oil and gas.
Funds are urgently needed to build community power and momentum to remove the social license for expanding dirty fossil fuel development is Australia’s south east waters.
Australia is one of the world’s largest miners and exporters of fossil fuels, much of which is drilled from underneath our oceans.
We are also home to some of the richest and most important marine environments on the planet, overlapping with where drilling does or is proposed to happen.
Fossil fuel drilling in our ocean all starts with seismic blasting exploration. As we speak, fossil fuel companies are pushing the government to open more ocean areas for seismic blasting and drilling each year.
The research is clear, seismic blasting harms wildlife and habitats: it can deafen whales, kills krill, and harms the immune systems of lobsters and scallops. Yet, expansion plans make us further reliant on fossil fuels, locking us into catastrophic climate change.
Since 2023, AMCS has been leading the fight against offshore fossil fuels around south-eastern Australia, with our goal being to empower the community and marine stakeholders to stop the expansion of this harmful, outdated sector. Eventually, the campaign aims to end fossil fuels in our ocean entirely.
In 2025 we are seeking to raise $240,000 to build on the momentum and success of 2024, and expand efforts to stop seismic blasting in Australia’s south-east and beyond, to end fossil fuels in our ocean. By donating TODAY you can help help support:
- Vital message testing and an advertising campaign to counter fossil fuel industry misinformation and influence.
- Fossil fuels policy expertise working to build connections and collaborations across the movement
- Legal advice and efforts to challenge harmful fossil fuel projects in court
- Support grassroots efforts to influence policy against fossil fuel expansion, and amplify our message through social media campaigns and public events.
- Help fund critical research that highlights the ecological risks of offshore fossil fuels and seismic blasting.
All donations over $2 are 100% tax-deductible. The projects featured in the Funding Prospectus are priority campaign activities and needs for which we are urgently seeking funds – current at the time of posting or going to press. As time progresses, there may be some cases in which the project you have selected may already be fully funded. In that instance, we would be delighted to discuss where the need is greatest at the given time. All of our campaigns work in symbiotic support of our mission to protect our oceans. Please be assured your gift will go to work to be the voice for Australia’s oceans, working on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife.
